SKIMMED: Breastfeeding, Race, and Injustice
The California Western Law Review is hosting a symposium discussing Andrea Freeman's groundbreaking book "Skimmed: Breastfeeding, Race, and Injustice."
Today, baby formula is a 70-billion-dollar industry and Black mothers have the lowest breastfeeding rates in the country. In Skimmed, Andrea Freeman tells the story of the Fultz quadruplets while uncovering how feeding America’s youngest citizens is awash in inequalities. This book highlights a modern public health crisis, four girls whose stories encapsulate a nationwide injustice, and how we can fight for a healthier future.
